PALA CRAPS
HOW TO PLAY
Play Cards
There are 36 cards in the deck representing the 36 possible combinations with
two standard dice. Two cards from the deck are placed facedown on the Red and
Blue boxes on the table layout. The shooter rolls two special cubes, one red
and one blue. The cube with the highest number determines which of the two
cards the dealer will turn over as the Play card. The rules and payoffs on Pala
Craps are precisely the same as found on standard Las Vegas-style Craps, with
the addition of the SUPER PROP BET:
Super Prop Bet
This is a bet that the two cards placed in the Red and Blue boxes, are the 2
and 12. This bet pays 500-to-1. The dealer must place this bet for all players.
Traditional Bets
Pass Line
The main bet of the game, placed on the come out Play. If the first card
selected is a 7 or 11 (natural), the Pass Line wins. If the first card is 2, 3
or 12 (craps), the Pass Line loses. Any other card (4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10)
becomes the point. The dealer will place the puck on this number. Once a point
is established, the Pass Line becomes a contract bet, meaning all bets must
remain in action until they win or lose. Now, the Pass Line wins if the point
is made before 7, but loses if 7 is made before the point. No other number
affects the outcome. Once the Pass Line wins or loses, the game begins again
with a new come out Play.
Don't Pass
The opposite of the Pass Line, also placed on the come out Play. If the first
card is 2 or 3, the Don't Pass wins. If the first card is 7 or 11, the Don't
Pass loses. 12 is a push (tie). Any other card (4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10) becomes
the point. The dealer will place the puck on this number. If a 7 comes up
before the point, the Don't Pass wins. If the point is made before 7, the Don't
Pass loses. Unlike the Pass Line, Don't Pass bets may be removed at any time.
Come Bets
The same as the Pass Line, but for new bets once there is a Pass Line point. If
the Play card is 7 or 11, new Come bets win. If the card is a 2, 3 or 12, new
Come bets lose. Any other card becomes the point for the new Come bets, which
the dealer will place on that number. If this point is made before 7, those
Come bets win. If a 7 is made first, all Come bets lose except new ones that
are coming out.
Don't Come
The same as the Don't Pass, but for new bets after a Don't Pass point has been
established. It is also the opposite of the Come. If the card is 2 or 3, the
bet wins. If the card is 7 or 11, the bet loses. 12 is a push (tie). Any other
number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10) becomes the point for these bets, which the dealer
will place behind the number. If the Play card is 7, all Don't Come bets behind
numbers win; but new Don't Come bets lose (this would be the come out card for
the new bets). If the point number comes up before 7, Don't Come bets behind
this number lose. Unlike Come bets, Don't Come bets may be taken down at any
time (inform the dealer to do so).
Place Bets
A player may at any time bet directly on any of the potential point numbers (4,
5, 6, 8, 9 or 10). The dealer places all Place Bets for players. If the number
Placed appears before 7, the bet wins according to the odds for that number.
(see below)
All Place bets lose on 7. Place bets may be removed at any time. Place bets
marked off are out of action (cannot win or lose) until called on again. Many
players call their Place bets off on the come out Play. The payoff odds for
Place bets are as follows:
| Roll |
 |
Payout |
| 4 and 10 |
 |
nine-to-five |
 |
| 5 and 9 |
 |
seven-to-five |
 |
| 6 and 8 |
 |
seven-to-six |
 |
Buy Bets
Similar to Place bets, but with slightly better odds. A player may bet that a
Play card of 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 will appear before a 7 by informing the dealer
which number(s) to Buy. Usually, a minimum bet of $20 is required for each Buy
bet. The player must pay a charge (vig) of 5% of the wager at the time the bet
is made. Buy bets pay true and correct odds:
| Roll |
 |
Payout |
| 4 and 10 |
 |
two-to-one |
 |
| 5 and 9 |
 |
three-to-two |
 |
| 6 and 8 |
 |
six-to-five |
 |
Players may make or take down Buy bets at any time. If a player takes down a
Buy bet, the vig is also returned.
Lay or Buy Behind Bets
The opposite of Buy bets. A player may bet a 7 card will appear before a 4, 5,
6, 8, 9 or 10 by informing the dealer which number(s) to Lay (Buy behind). The
player must pay an added amount of five percent (vig) of the potential win
amount at the time the bet is made. Lay bets pay true and correct odds:
| Roll |
 |
Payout |
| 4 and 10 |
 |
one-to-two |
 |
| 5 and 9 |
 |
two-to-three |
 |
| 6 and 8 |
 |
five-to-six |
 |
Players may place or take down Lay bets at any time. If a player takes down a
Lay bet, the vig is also returned.
Odds
Players with Pass, Come, Don't Pass or Don't Come bets may add to their
existing bet once a point is established by making an additional bet called
Odds. In the case of the Pass Line and Come, Odds are a bet that the point will
be made before 7. In the case of the Don't Pass or Don't Come, Odds are a bet
that a Play card of 7 will occur before the point. The payoff odds are true and
correct (see Buy Bets and Lay Bets).
Proposition Bets
Proposition bets are high-odds bets located in the center of the table. The
dealer places proposition bets for all players. Payoff odds are posted under
the symbols. Except for all-day hard ways, all proposition bets are one-Play
bets.
Horn Bets
A single bet that covers 2, 3, 11 and 12. The payoff odds depend on the Play
card.
All Day Hard Ways
There are four hard way combinations: hard 4 (2, 2), hard 6 (3, 3), hard 8 (4,
4), hard 10 (5, 5). An all-day hard way bet is a wager that the double
combination will occur before an easy way (all other combinations of that
number) or a 7. The payoff odds, which are posted underneath the bet, are
slightly higher on hard 6 and 8, because there are fewer easy way combinations
of 4 and 10. The bet remains in play until it wins, loses or is taken down by
the player. Hard way bets may be called off by the player, in which case the
bet is out of action until it is called working (or on) again. Many players
call their hard ways off on the come out Play.
Hopping Hard Ways
One-Play hard way bets. They win according to the posted payoff (same as 2 and
12) and lose on any other Play card.
Hopping Bets
A hopping bet (also known as on the hop) is another one-Play bet that may be
made on a specific combination of numbers on the card for hands of 4 through 10
(excluding hard ways). These bets pay the same as a 3 or 11.
