Choices celebrates the Lunar New Year

     Choices Buffet will make Chinese Lunar New Year (The Year of the Dragon) even more fun Jan. 23 to Feb. 6 with the addition of Halo Halo to its hand-made, fresh dessert station. Halo Halo is an Asian specialty that is a mixture of shaved ice, evaporated milk, sweet beans, fruits, and topped with vanilla ice cream that is served in a tall glass.  It is a refreshing, light dessert with explosive tastes. The Halo Halo at Choices will start with four ingredients, coconut string, purple yam jam, red mung beans and coconut gelatin.  They are covered with shaved ice and then evaporated milk is then poured over the ice.   It is topped with a sizable scoop of vanilla ice cream. As the shaved ice melts, all the ingredients are mixed together into a refreshing, healthy treat.

 Halo Halo will be just one of the special Lunar New Year Treats at Choices.

Gingerbread Holiday Village

Our very own award-winning Executive Pastry Chef Albert Cruz has created another masterpiece of confectionary delight. He has built a six-building Gingerbread Village complete with a six-foot center chocolate tower for the holidays.

The village, which took three days to bake and build and is made from 400 pounds of Gingerbread and 200 pounds of chocolate. Don’t miss the sweet detail of the music sheets being held by the white chocolate snowmen or the chocolate Christmas lights on the pastry trees. It is on display at the Pala hotel elevators near the hotel lobby until New Year’s Day. Stop by and visit.
